The First Litter of Yorkshire Terrier Puppies: A Springtime Adventure

Born 3-12-24

In the springtime of 2024, our sweet Winchester became a mother for the very first time at just two and a half years old. She delivered a beautiful litter of five Yorkshire Terrier puppies — two boys and three girls. Sadly, one of the little girls did not survive complications at birth, but the remaining puppies thrived and quickly stole our hearts.

As a new mom, Winchester was a little nervous, but with plenty of care and support, she rose to the occasion. In the early days, we used a heating pad in the kennel to make sure the puppies stayed warm and strong. As the season changed and the grass outside grew lush and green, the puppies began exploring the yard, racing around, and even splooting in the tall grass to cool their bellies. Watching their personalities bloom was pure joy.

By the time they were weaned, every puppy had a loving family eagerly waiting to welcome them home. We even began calling them by their new names to help them adjust and respond more quickly during early potty training. Saying goodbye was bittersweet, but the best part of our journey has been keeping in touch with their families. We continue to receive photos and updates, watching these little angels grow from their original black-and-tan coats into the beautiful, unique Yorkies they are today.
